Classes are changing as people request different offerings; thank you for your feedback!

In 2017 we are again providing our thorough, 8-month certification program in Basic Herbal Therapeutics and Natural Family Health (also known as Basic Clinical Herbalism). This course meets for one Saturday intensive per month from 12pm to 6pm. This is a joyful, thoughtful and comprehensive basis for your exploration into the world of herbs and healing. The cabin is up, woodstove is in, greenhouse is fixed! So we have classes up at the garden and wildspace as well as at the herb workshop. I hope also we can take some canoe/kayak jaunts as well. Our first meeting will be March 25 and further dates for classes will be posted soon.

  • Each class has a "book learning" session where we discuss many principles of integrative healing from many cultures and perspectives. Each class also has a "kitchen medicine" session where we learn how to grow, collect, process and preserve herbs, and make a wide variety of herbal preparations.  You will start your field kit and journal, first aid kit and home collection of stored herbs in a variety of forms.

  • At the end of this course you will have a basic ability to do a fully integrative assessment, develop a care plan and a personalized set of formulations, find or grow the herbs needed and make them into the combination of recipes desired. You will also learn simple guidelines to help you combine herbal therapies with standard medical therapies safely and appropriately. Depending on the knowledge base of the student group I also assign individual projects that are tailored to the skills and interests of each student.
  • If you would like to drop in to a class once, the 3-hour session is $10 and the whole day class is $15.
  • the cost for this course is $850 and each student contracts a payment plan that they find doable. Herbal Therapeutics and Natural Family Health has some work-study opportunities available. The registration fee is $50, non-refundable, and is applied to the tuition total.
