December 2008..Bare trees, grumpy birds
Lots of changes in the works for HerbsAllAround, and in accordance with the season, all the activity is underground, steady and quietly planning to have materials and energy available for the Spring thaw. Your herbalist purchased actual land (yes, with dirt on it) and is wildly fantasizing about greenhouses, with hot tubs in them, of course. Hey, a girl has to have a dream! The HerbsAllAround official dirt has a variety of little ecologic neighborhoods which will be perfect for many different native medicinal plant seedings. So by Spring, the plants that need to stay wild can be wild, the plants that need a greenhouse can have one, and the garden plants can have their civilized plots. The first building will likely be a proper herbal craft shop-kitchen, so things can be gathered and then prepared in their best forms at the right times. Other changes: -the website now has a Dosha Analysis page so you can learn about your own personal constitution. It's a fun and enlightening series of questions which I hope will give you many useful ideas about health. -the Products page is really working now! I will be adding more teas and tea-making accessories soon, as well as other handmade items. The best things about Products is that all income will go into the HMO Fund (see below). -the "HMO" (Herbal Maintenance Organization) Fund will be used for clients who would like herbal consultations and materials and need financial support to do so. Many complementary services (not to mention the regular medical services!) are not paid for by standard health insurances. HerbsAllAround clients are thoughtful, dedicated folks who are more than willing to work on health issues over many seasons if given half an opportunity to do so..so the Fund is one way to help them. -Look for a new website page soon on the seasonal topic..this will contain pertinent articles, research and recipes. For Winter I will be reporting on how to keep the immune system nice and springy (no conscious pun intended).
I hope Winter finds you savoring the quiet peace of this time. Don't forget to balance out all that cozy hibernating with a few snowball fights! Wishing you good health -laurie
